Back to basics
Back in 1993, a “real
knockabout fella” called Lummo produced a
book in his back shed called Rabbit on a Shovel. It
was collection of bare bones bush cooking
traditions – bush skills and ethics, recipes,
directions, advice and ideas on how to make
something edible out of just about nothing. To many
bush cooks’ disgust, the book went out of
print for about six years.
Lummo’s campfire
companion has since been revised and re-released in
an “up-market” style. Rabbit on a
Shovel is available again and anyone interested in
cultivating their camp cooking skills would do well
to have a browse through this book.
