Postcard perfect
We all like to take great photos of places
been and sights seen but, when dropping in to the local
information centre, there they are – dozens of beautiful
postcards taken by pros at the best time of the day and year.
Don’t despair, as it is possible to get great shots with
a little care, patience and knowledge.
My wife Phyllis and I visited the Atherton
Tableland in North Queensland where we discovered Australian
mining heritage just south of Atherton at Herberton and
Irvinebank. Here, an exciting history lesson awaits the whole
family.
Herberton has a population of 1000 and
Irvinebank about 100. Herberton has dozens of restored heritage
buildings and walking tracks to old tin mines east and west of
town. Most buildings are open to the general public.
